Freetowns: Photos from the Helen Balfour Morrison Collection

Photography
Chicago photographer Helen Balfour Morrision traveled to the Bluegrass on several occasions in the 1930s and '40s to photograph residents of Kentucky's Freetowns, rural communities settled by freedmen in the decades after the Civil War. These photographs will be on display throughout February. The kickoff will feature guest speaker Devine Carama.
