AUDITION: THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST (Plus dates for future auditions!) AthensWest Theatre Company is proud to announce auditions for the first production of its 2018/2019 season, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST by Oscar Wilde and directed by Trent Stephens. Auditions will take place Saturday, August 4 from 2-6pm, and Sunday, August 5 from 6-10pm. Callbacks will take place Monday, August 6 from 7-10pm. Location: Schmidt Vocal Arts Center, 412 Rose St., Lexington, Kentucky 40506. The Schmidt Vocal Arts Center is located at the corner of Rose Street and Rose Lane, across the street from the Singletary Center for the Arts. You must make an appointment by emailing Please include in your email which days and times you are available, as well as an indication as to whether or not you belong to Actors’ Equity Association. You will be emailed back with a confirmed appointment. Please note that actors must audition in person in order to be considered. Neither transportation nor housing are provided to actors at this time. Note: The role of Algernon will be played by Associate Artistic Director Mark Mozingo. All other roles are available. ABOUT THE AUDITION, WHAT TO BRING The audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Please bring a resume and headshot or recent photograph (though if you don’t have one, we will take a photo of you). Auditionees interested in reading the play can find it in most bookstores, libraries, and many sources online. CHARACTER BREAKDOWN Note: actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition. PRODUCTION DETAILS THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST begins rehearsals Monday, September 10, 2018, and runs at the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center October 5-21, 2018. ABOUT THE THEATRE AthensWest Theatre Company operates on an SPT3 contract with Actors’ Equity Association. Roles are available for both Equity and non-Equity performers.
