Louisville Story Program's Second Annual Write-A-Thon

Louisville Story Program's Second Annual Write-A-Thon

The Louisville Story Program is holding its Second Annual Write-A-Thon--a pledge-driven writing marathon happening right now--supporting LSP’s mission to amplify the voices and stories of underrepresented individuals and groups in Louisville. The Write-A-Thon is organized like a charity 5K fundraiser in which participants solicit pledged donations from friends and family in support of their efforts. Instead of taking a long stroll or an ambitious run, Write-A-Thoners will devote an entire day to their writing practice. Those writers who raise at least $100 will gather in Spalding University’s College Street Ballroom from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24th for a day of dedicated writing, peer support, and creative comradeship. Whether participants choose to begin a new writing project, revise, write postcards, or work on a thesis, they’ll enjoy the support of Louisville’s writing community all day long. LSP will provide coffee, a catered lunch, and opportunities for professionally led breakout workshops and craft talks. Prizes for top fundraisers include: • One-night stay at the 21c Museum Hotel in downtown Louisville (up to $400 value) • Two-night stay at any Kentucky State Park cottage or lodge ($200 value) • Mini library of three handmade, letterpress books from Larkspur Press ($120 value) • Tickets to local attractions, museums, and performances • Gift certificates to local businesses. Writers will also receive a tote bag, a Louisville Story Program book of their choice (Our Shawnee, I Said Bang!: A History of the Dirt Bowl, or We Can Hear You Just Fine: Clarifications from the Kentucky School for the Blind), a copy of The Louisville Review, and other great items. Louisville Story Program partners closely with overlooked Louisville residents by providing extensive writing and oral history workshops and intensive editorial support, culminating in professionally designed documentary books, exhibits, and radio programs in which our authors tell the stories of their lives and communities in their own words. LSP is the proud recipient of the Fund for the Arts 2017 Arts Innovation Award. For more information visit
