Halls is a place you can go with your grandparents (like me my first time), or with your friends (as the EKU Students do all the time).
It's nearly all fried food, but if you're not into the fried stuff (like me), there are other things on the menu.
It's very peaceful sitting, as it is a ways out of the city of Lexington. But it's worth it for a summer, or a warm fall/spring day. And make sure you ask to sit on the patio out back, that's the best part.
This bar use to be known as Trumps, and was a Lexington game day staple. Perhaps it was the fact that I knew everyone in the bar, and you went back each week to watch the game and the same people were there. Or perhaps it was that the servers seemed to be a good mood, and remembered you when you came in. Or perhaps it was that despite being slightly too large for this title, it was a good neighborhood bar to watch the game in.
Something happened to all this when the name changed from Trumps to Friends and Company. Besides, and I think most of the young people in Lexington will agree, the name Friends in Company just somehow wasn't right for this bar.
Still, it does do a good business, so, I am to think someone must be liking it now- that's just not me. So, I gave 3 stars- an average rating.
While I am sorry Tracie had a bad experience, it seems the instance with her purse had to do with another customer, not the bar.
I have only been to the Grapevine once; however, I found it to be a nice, more upscale sports bar than most in the Kentucky Area. I have no idea how the previous management ran things, but I found the staff to be great, and even most of the customers to be friendly. By the time I left I felt as though I'd spoken to nearly 1/2 the people there, now how many bars can you say that about....? Not many.
Honestly, I have never heard the band, but have heard limited, but mostly positive reviews. The band's singer I have heard, and is very talented.
