2013 Urban Mountain Challenge

Challenge yourself this year by racing or walking up the stairs of two towers in downtown Lexington during the Urban Mountain Challenge on Jan. 26!

The Challenge begins at the 300 West Vine Street Building and continues across the street at the Lexington Financial Center. Participants may choose to complete one building (22 stories) or both buildings for a total of 51 stories. Each participant that chooses to complete both buildings will have 90 seconds removed from their final time to allow for… Show more crossing Vine Street, which will be closed to traffic. The first runner will begin at 7:30 a.m. with following runners starting every 15 seconds. Public Safety personnel (firefighters, police & military) will start first. Once completed, participants can enjoy food and beverages at the survivor's party located in the plaza area of 300 West Vine.

This is the second year for the Urban Mountain Challenge. In 2012, 340 participants climbed 29 stories in the Lexington Financial Center. The winner completed the 29 stories in 2 minutes and 46 seconds.

There will be special pricing for public safety personnel, high school and college students, two-person teams, and one-tower climbs. Proceeds will benefit Lexington's Division of Fire for first responder equipment and supply needs; DLC Foundation and an initiative for the creation of a produce bus that is being formed to provide access to fresh fruits and vegetables in areas of town that have been designated as food deserts.
