Wilson will read a new piece reflecting on her 52-year relationship with America, as well as lead a conversation with Sanctuary exhibition curator Emily Buddendeck. Currently on view at the Weston Art Gallery, Sanctuary: Kathy Y. Wilson Living in a Colored Museum is an exhibition recreating Wilson’s apartment environment from which she writes and creates. The installation serves as a meditation on home and reveals the depth of character of this exceptionally talented writer and performer. Through his lecture, Dr. Pilgrim will challenge the audience to think deeply about diversity and race relations within American society. Following the presentation, an informal and free Sunday Salon with both speakers will take place in Wilson’s exhibition in the Weston Art Gallery from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
