In the Platonic, Neopythagorean, Middle Platonic, and Neoplatonic schools of philosophy, the demiurge is an artisan-like figure responsible for the fashioning and maintenance of the physical universe. The word "demiurge" is an English word from demiurgus, a Latinized form of the Greek demiourgos. It was originally a common noun meaning "craftsman" or "artisan".
This exhibit features works from modern-day demiurges, many of which are no longer in use today. With impeccable craftsmanship and sleek and simple beauty, these handmade tools are a peek into history.
