Men don’t have to face prostate cancer alone. The American
Cancer Society’s prostate cancer education and support group, Man to Man,
helps men cope with prostate cancer by receiving information and peer
support. The first meeting of 2009 will be held on Tuesday, January 13 at
6:30 p.m. at the American Cancer Society office located at 1504 College
Way.
Special guest David Dick, author of “Journal for Lalie-Living Through
Prostate Cancer,” and his wife Lalie will join the group for a discussion
and book signing. David Dick is a retired CBS News correspondent who was
diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1993, and shares his ups and downs
through this book. A journal for Lalie is a book for men who have, or may
someday have, prostate cancer, but equally for the women who will follow in
David and Lalie Dick’s footsteps as they negotiate the same rocky medical
trail.
Man to Man is a forum for men to learn about diagnosis and treatment
options through presentations, written materials and videos. Specialists in
the prostate cancer field share information on medical and quality of life
issues. News and information about research and treatment, as well as
messages from men living with prostate cancer and other Man to Man
activities, are offered to assist in the recovery process.
The Man to Man prostate cancer education and support group in Lexington, KY
meets on the third Thursday of each month at the American Cancer Society
office. Please RSVP by Calling Melanie at (859) 260-8286 or
Melanie.Wilson@cancer.org. The evening will be full of information,
support, door prizes and snacks. For information, call the American Cancer
Society at 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit www.cancer.org.
