A.P. Roots
We tried this place last Monday and started with the Bread sticks and they came out BURNT! Then I ordered the Fish and Chips the French fries were over cooked and soaked in grease the catfish was soaked in grease. If you try this place be careful what you order.
I have eaten at A.P. Roots 2 or 3 times and have not been disappointed. The dishes on the menu tend to be a bit different from your standard Italian fare. However, each entree I have ordered has been very good.
The reason I can't give it higher than 3.5 stars is due to the service; a couple times the server we had seemed either awkward or inexperienced. However, that won't prevent me from returning for a good meal.
First visit - We went to A.P. Roots exciting about the possibilities. Local food cooked well - can't miss opportunity. However the food was simply inedible. The signature macaroni and cheese was bland. The wilted spinach was not wilted but had been cooked for quite some time (stewed maybe). The salt on the vegetables was so much that you literally had to spit it out (and I like a LOT of salt).
2nd visit - Had the pizza of the day. Excellent taste with fresh ingredients. WAY TOO Greasy though. French onion soup was good.
Will try again for a third visit. I hope they continue to improve.
