Little Explorers Nature Walk at McConnell Springs (1 pm, Saturday, November 7, McConnell Springs) – Youth, ages 10 and younger, are invited to come out to McConnell Springs for a nature walk to explore the park. There will be a short introductory program in the Education Center followed by a hike. The program will conclude with a craft project. Little Explores Nature Walk at Raven Run (1 pm, Sunday, November 8, Raven Run) – Bring your children ages 3 – 7 to Raven Run for their children’s program. Activities include a short hike and an art project with all supplies provided. Each monthly program has a different theme so feel free to attend as many programs as you like. Geocaching at the Springs (11 am, Saturday, November 21, McConnell Springs) – Learn about this great world-wide GPS activity and try your hand at finding the geocaches located at McConnell Springs. This free program is appropriate for all ages. For additional information, call McConnell Springs at 225-4073.
Fossils of the Bluegrass (2 pm, Sunday, November 22, Raven Run Nature Sanctuary) – Learn to identify many of the common rocks and fossils of the Bluegrass of Kentucky. The program includes hands-on demonstrations with fossils and a field hike to explore limestone beds for evidence of prehistoric life.
