Lucia di Lammermoor, presented by UK Opera Theatre

A Celebration of the Professional Career of Gail Robinson (1946-2008). In honor of the late Endowed Chair in Opera, University of Kentucky Opera Theatre presents the opera for which Robinson was best known, Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor. Accompanied by the UK Symphony Orchestra, John Nardolillo, conductor. Gail Robinson, celebrated soprano, venerated star of the Metropolitan Opera and UK professor of Voice, made inestimable contributions to the opera world, and to her many vocal students at UK.
Gail Robinson won the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions at age 19 and had an extraordinary international career, including 215 performances at the Metropolitan Opera, and served many years as Executive Director of both the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the Met's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. She joined the University of Kentucky faculty in 1999 as Professor of Voice and Distinguished Artist in Music with an Endowed Chair for Vocal Performance. Gail Robinson died on October 19, 2008 in Lexington. Please join us for this celebration of her remarkable career.
