New Paintings and Drawings by Carolyn Young Hisel and Lennon Michalski

Hisel and Michalski are each well known for their vibrant, multi-layered paintings. While both artists are distinctly different from one another, they each present an abstract narrative and integrate drawing into their work. Hisel allows preliminary drawings to remain visible in her finished works, permitting the viewer to see the evolution of the painting. Michalski draws with a brush through thin transparent layers of paint, hiding and enhancing parts as the whole comes together.
